Bucky and Buster Holder are a bit rough when handling Annabelle in one scene, but they do not harm her.

Ending spoilers: In the epilogue, we see an elderly Annabelle stumble out of the barn on Christmas Eve, implied to be close to the end of her life. However, Santa grants her original wish to fly and restores her voice (which are also Billy's wishes for her) by essentially reincarnating her as a young, healthy reindeer. She is not depicted as dying during this process.

Aunt Agnes wants to adopt Billy and take him away from Grandpa Charlie (she does not succeed). Billy doesn't want to go with her at all and loves his grandfather, who treats him kindly. Agnes doesn't physically abuse Billy but she does not seem to genuinely care about his welfare and seems to only want him as an accessory.

There is a flashback sequence where Grandpa Charlie remembers the barn fire that killed Billy's parents. The scene is fairly intense and fast-paced, and the fire may be bright enough to be uncomfortable for people who have trouble with bright/flashing lights.

Billy coughs from the dust in the barn at one point, but he is not injured and the situation is not dangerous.

Prior to the events of the movie, Billy's parents died in a barn fire, which also caused Billy to lose his voice. His grandfather keeps a music box that his daughter (Billy's mom) loved.

Annabelle is tied with rope and pulled out of the barn when Bucky and Buster take her as payment for the damage to the Holders' fence. She is returned soon afterward.

Due to his parents' death in a barn fire, Billy is afraid to enter the barn. At one point he runs into the barn without realizing it and panics, but calms down because of Annabelle's comfort. He is no longer afraid of the barn for the rest of the movie.

Not onscreen, but Billy's parents die prior to the events of the story.

No farting or spitting, but there is a scene where Aunt Agnes accidentally steps in animal poop when she is in the barn. The poop is shown onscreen for a few seconds.

Bucky and Buster lie to their father Gus about an incident that was their own fault and try to blame Annabelle for it, but their lie is quickly exposed.

The Holders take Annabelle as payment for damage to their fence (with reluctant permission from Grandpa Charlie and the sheriff), but she is returned very shortly afterward.
