Drawing from never-before-seen footage that has been tucked away in the National Geographic archives, director Brett Morgen tells the story of Jane Goodall, a woman whose chimpanzee research revolutionized our understanding of the natural world.
The chimpanzees suffer a polio epidemic which is a difficult watch and some of them die, we learn one is shot (to euthanise it) but we don’t see this happen. We also see the body of a dead chimp and her son pass away with the grief, as well as many photos of dead chimps
We learn that a chimp has been euthanised and several chimps bodies. we also see animals (e.g zebras) get killed by other animals (e.g hyenas and lions) - typical nature documentary scenes but still challenging to see
