The arrival of a newborn girl causes the gradual disintegration of the Cairn family; particularly for 9-year-old Joshua, an eccentric boy whose proper upbringing and refined tastes both take a sinister turn.
This movie contains 19 potentially triggering events.
I wouldn’t really say restrained, but held back. After the hide and seek scene Joshua’s mom is so pissed at him she tries to lunge towards him multiple times. To which her husband holds her back.
Sorta? The husband character as the movie continues on eyes this girl at his job. There’s a scene where they talk, but I don’t think anything became of it.
Yes,the teacher in Joshua’s class talks about her hamsters dying. This hinting at Joshua being at fault. The family dog also dies. And *spoiler* I believe he has a pet Guinea pig or hamster near the end of the movie. But right at the end when the movers are helping them move stuff out,it tips over and you can see the stomach is stitched up. So he killed that animal/pet too.
There is a scene where one protagonist tries to be intimate with another one and keeps persisting even though the other is clearly not in the mood. It doesn't progress farther than that but I found it uncomfortable.
I read Joshua as autistic and I think a lot of the scares were played off as if Joshua being neurodivergent was inherently scary or evil. So I would say yes.
Yes,one that still sticks out to me the most is the husband when he was at work and decided to search up p0rn. It doesn’t show any websites, videos,or pictures. Just what he typed into the search bar.
