Naruto Shippuuden is the continuation of the original animated TV series Naruto. The story revolves around an older and slightly more matured Uzumaki Naruto and his quest to save his friend Uchiha Sasuke from the grips of the snake-like Shinobi, Orochimaru. After 2 and a half years Naruto finally returns to his village of Konoha, and sets about putting his ambitions to work, though it will not be easy, as He has amassed a few (more dangerous) enemies, in the likes of the shinobi organization; Akatsuki.
This tv show contains 64 potentially triggering events.
Nagato's dog Chibi dies unexpectedly in episode 172 of Naruto Shippuden (the anime). They're caught in a crossfire between Hanzo and the three Sannin and Chibi was unable to dodge an explosion.
Many women in Naruto get underutilized as characters. They're almost always outperformed by the men and have to be saved by them.
Some of them end up being killed (Konan), barely get any scenes (Ten Ten) or are mainly there to further a male character's arc (Hinata & Sakura).
Although many of the original ninja of the Chuunin Exams from Naruto, become minor characters the longer Shippuden goes on.
yes but not in the usual way. a few times there are parents that leave their children to go on missions or something similar with the intention to return but do not come back due to death, etc. and we do find out a character loses his father to suicide when he is 5 years old and becomes an orphan. also if this is upsetting there are few children (including naruto and sasuke) that are neglected by their designated care takers
no, not as a central theme but the side branch of the hyuga clan are forced to serve the main branch and often face ill treatment which could be triggering, (s7 e389!!)
Karin's backstory reveals that her body was used as a healing property by injured shinobi. To heal, these shinobi have to bite her. This caused many bitemarks on her body. This is an upsetting flashback and one might draw parallels with s*xual assault.
yes but not very often there are summoning animals that sometimes get injured during fights, especially the toads. tailed beasts are also treated pretty poorly by a lot of people (especially during the war arc). if you're sensitive to this some instances in particular that could be upsetting are e318 a bird is knocked out of a tree and poisoned it spams for a bit before dying, e255 the turtle island gets bitten and turns over it cries loudly for a while, e194 a man tightly lassos a horse and tries to pull it away from a cliff as it begins to slip the horse is clearly distressed and because of the chaos it ends up falling down the cliff anyway, they're all shown but none are very graphic
No, but Karin's backstory where she has to involuntarily heal shinobis who bite her all over her body, can be seen as a metaphorical rape. It's an unsettling scene, to say the least.
the other comment is right but if you're avoiding spoilers a character does get trapped under some rocks after a cave in and is left to die during kakashi chronicles e119 - e120
e305 tayuya stomps on shikamaru's head it doesn't get squashed tho and e393 madara throws a rod into tobirama's head there may be another instance that i don't remember
i think it's e291 ? when naruto and sakura approach dokku and the children for the first time they get scared and run away, leo kicks naruto in his privates and he cries out in pain
for those sensitive to beating , etc. in e67 sora gets beat with a large stick while laying on the ground, e187 in a flashback some villagers are beat with large sticks, e198 naruto allows a cloud ninja to beat him it's shown again briefly in e201 and both times his face appears badly injured, in e233 iggy beats the imposter it's supposed to be funny, e246 a bully gets beaten, e262!!! it only lasts like 3 seconds but omoi has a vision of himself being captured and stricken by the enemy, e443 the police beat a group of criminals off screen (they are fully clothed in all scenes and there are other small instances here and there but nothing extreme). e146 utukata is restrained and electrocuted, e160 an akatsuki member has wires tightened around their body, e166 naruto is impaled so he can't move, e288 a swordsman impales and stitches people to trees while they're still alive, e353 kakashi is tormented with smoke and his limbs get stretched, also orochimaru does experiments on people and keeps them locked up we don't see much of this at all it's mostly talked about (it's mentioned that many people suffer or die from experiments) check the comments in the "hospital scene" and "child abuse" categories, none of the scenes are graphic except 198 if they're uncomfortable i suggest muting
-Sasukes brother dies in a battle against him
-A few times we get flashbacks of Sasukes whole family getting killed in front of his eyes
-Narutos parents are shown to be killed by the 9 Tailed Fox
-Hinatas cousin, Neji, sacrifices himself for her and Naruto
-And many more..
not so much transphobic slurs but Naruto refers to a feminine presenting animal/creature as a ‘male’ and says ‘a males a male’. Some transphobic language there.
on a few occasions they're used but some notable moments are s1 e25 sakura injects herself with medicine, s1 e86 kakashi draws blood into a syringe during a fight with an akatsuki, s6 e336 and 337 there's a close up of kabuto with an iv in his arm, in the naruto outbreak episode i think it's e183 the whole episode they are trying to inject him with a sleeping medicine
many times characters are show recovering in hospital beds, but there is a super brief clip of orochimaru about to use what seems like a medical saw on one of his "test subjects" while the person screams for him not to do it (no cuts or blood is shown, we just see orochimaru smiling and the person screaming)
Jugo has fits of violent rage and is very much a motif for mood disorder. Some Akatsuki members make ableist comments about his mental health in passing and refer to him as "bipolar Jugo" in the English subtitles.
there are a few successful suicides (check the other category) but e451 a child jumps from a cliff after hearing that there is no meaning in life and quickly tries to save himself
yes in case anyone is confused by the "no" we definitely see naruto and sasuke as babies as well as pregnant women but there's not many babies throughout the whole show
kinda, there are a few occasions where characters visit bathhouses, naruto/konohamaru do a "sexy jutsu" that turns them into naked women that are covered by steam clouds or underwear, also in e431 about karin there a few clips that show an outline of a woman's body covered in bite marks but no full nudity shots
