ReportMarcella is shocked to the core of her being when her husband Jason leaves her unexpectedly, confessing he no longer loves her. Heartbroken, Marcella returns to the Met’s Murder Squad. Ten years ago Marcella gave up her fast-tracked police career to marry and devote her life to her family. With the abrupt end to her marriage and isolated from her 13 year old daughter and 10 year old son, Marcella throws herself into work to stop herself from falling apart.

At the very end of S02E02, Edward, Marcella's son, kills one of his pet mice.
I found it pretty disturbing, although you kind of see it coming so it's easy to mute/cover the screen.

Absolutely. I'm not sure why two people have pressed no. Season 2 is about a serial killer who lobotomises children then buries them in prominent places around London - they then suffocate or starve or just die. Season 3 episode 1 has a host of immigrants found dead in the back of a truck.
