Free adaptation of Shakespeare′s drama: The Danish queen masquerades her daughter as a boy. Thus, the girl lives her whole life as Prince Hamlet. When the King is killed in an assault by Hamlet′s uncle, Hamlet seeks revenge. His friend Horatio, whom Hamlet secretly loves, is the only one who is let in on the revenge plans. When Hamlet is killed in the end Horatio finally finds out that the Prince was a woman.

Uhhhh it's complicated. The main character was raised as a boy despite being female-assigned, but he seems to identify mostly as a man. In this case, most of the misgendering would come from the intertitles/other characters referring to him having "the heart of a woman", etc.
