A man is wrongly jailed for murder while the real killer roams free. The murderer is an intellectual frustrated with his country’s never-ending cycle of betrayal and apathy. The convict is a simple man who finds life in prison more tolerable, when something mysterious and strange starts happening to him.
A dog is implied to be killed violently, though the dog is not seen (obscured by grass). The killer behaves very violently and is covered in blood afterwards.
In the first scene a trans woman is accidentally misgendered by a friend. He corrects himself quickly and moves on. To me it implied a recent transition. Throughout the rest of the film, the trans woman character is portrayed as competent, confident and respected by her peers. Her transness is treated matter-of-factly and doesn't ever come up again. The actress was also the producer of the film.
