Roman Holiday
Movie • 1953 • Comedy
ReportOverwhelmed by her suffocating schedule, touring European princess Ann takes off for a night while in Rome. When a sedative she took from her doctor kicks in, however, she falls asleep on a park bench and is found by an American reporter, Joe Bradley, who takes her back to his apartment for safety. At work the next morning, Joe finds out Ann's regal identity and bets his editor he can get exclusive interview with her, but romance soon gets in the way.

Very bright and jarring flashbulbs on cameras. The biggest one is when Audrey goes dancing with the barber and a character takes a photo of her.

Right after Audrey borrows some money from Gregory, there's a scene where she wanders the streets, and there's a loud clamor of city noises to highlight her unfamiliarity and overwhelm. (This trend does not continue for similar settings.)

There's a brief shot of a cat during one of the action sequences, but no harm or danger at all.

No. There's a tense comedic scene where characters place their hands into the mouth of a giant stone face which will allegedly bite it off if they have lied. One of them hides his hand in his sleeve, pretends to scream, and yanks out the "stump" of his arm.

Very suddenly too. A princess is reviewing her schedule for the next day, and she's very tired and burnt out. Right around the part when the other person mentions visiting the police station, she goes on an overwhelmed rant and breaks down crying.

Subtle at best. Audrey's character asks Gregory's character for a nightgown, and he remarks very plainly that he hasn't worn a nightgown in years. This is most likely a "man in a dress" joke, but there's zero scorn implied, so it could just as easily be interpreted as a reference to baby clothes or a past drag hobby.
