There's a lovely dog in the abandoned town and they make a reference to hitting a dog, which seems to distress him, but nothing bad happens to him.

Both our main characters are verbally abusive to one another and the man slaps the woman during an argument, and manhandles her a few times. It's a horrible, abusive relationship throughout.

The scene should absolutely be skipped if you have trouble with animal violence. The pig is screaming in a burlap sack, before a boy hits it with a hammer to silence it. Then, they open the bag, and the pig is shown, barely breathing. The kids proceed to stab it in the neck, causing more screams and a shaking body before it dies.
