Tokyo Ghoul

TV Show • 2014 • Animation

Report
Ken Kaneki is a bookworm college student who meets a girl names Rize at a cafe he frequents. They're the same age and have the same interests, so they quickly become close. Little does Kaneki know that Rize is a ghoul - a kind of monster that lives by hunting and devouring human flesh. When part of her special organ - "the red child" - is transplanted into Kaneki, he becomes a ghoul himself, trapped in a warped world where humans are not the top of the food chain.

Kaneki gets tortured by having his fingers and toes clipped off multiple times after they regenerate. Depending on the version, this gets censored but you do see his reddish, regenerated digits and toes.

the main character is subjected to various torture methods over the course of multiple episodes. mainly he has his fingers and toes chopped off over and over, has needles put in his eyes, and has centipedes put in his ear canals. this is a major plot point, don't watch if this bothers you

Ghouls' eyes can also change color: black sclera with red irises. Sometimes red vines sprout out onto their skin. May look disturbing to some viewers

Lots of violence. Characters fight and severely wound each other. Blood gushes from open wounds. Ghouls are shown biting chunks out of still living humans. Violence is in practically every episode, but is central to the theme.

Yes but usually not shown full on. There is usually some form of censorship involved
