Borderline. Only in that Ron's mother is extremely religious which leads to her berating her son, and an eventual confrontation. When he is a teenager she scolds him and tells him he is going to hell for having a porn magazine. Later, after the war, Ron and his family (mostly his mother) have a loud confrontation where he says God doesn't exist and blames his mother for his going to Vietnam. His mother throws him out of the house in response.

The film is about a Vietnam War veteran. The main scene is once he returns home and he is being honored on Independence Day/his birthday, and hears a baby cry and helicopters ahead while he is giving a speech, and has to leave the stage.
