The main antagonist of the movie, the Fabrication Machine, is shown being forcibly separated from its creator, and is overworked to the point where it snaps. One of the creators of the film described it as an "abused child that has been given a lot of power". Actually, you could interpret all the stitchpunks as abused children, as they're abandoned by their creator and have thrust upon them the responsibility of fixing humanity's mistakes - 1 lampshades this at one point.
