Sort of, it's nice with the wedding and all, but the main characters know they may get deported, and it's not like China was a great place in the 1960s, since the main character is one of the few upper class traditional chinese left--if she returned it wouldn't have been safe for them

The actress is Japanese trying to play a Chinese woman that struggles with the language, but it appears that she threw out all personality in her performance.
