Milo Murphy's Law

TV Show • 2016 • Animation

Report
Milo Murphy is the personification of Murphy’s Law where anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Suffering from Extreme Hereditary Murphy’s Law condition (EHML), Milo always looks to make the best of the cards he’s been dealt and his endless optimism and enthusiasm can turn any catastrophe into a wild adventure. Together, he and his friends will learn that it’s all about a positive attitude and not to sweat the big stuff… and it’s all big stuff.

1. Cavendish and Dakota follow Milo to a school dance and stalk him in "School Dance". They don't interact with him, and they aren't doing it with bad intentions. (Also, Cavendish and Dakota just run into Milo a lot in general, but this isn't intentional on either side.)

2. It's revealed in "Cavendish Unleashed" that aliens have been watching Milo for an unknown amount of time. They later abduct him (but, again, not for evil reasons).

Zack hyperventilates in "The Undergrounders". Amanda hyperventilates in "Smooth Opera-tor". These are both fairly short. In addition, the aliens in season 2 hold their breath in order to shapeshift, but there's nothing to suggest that the aliens can't hold their breath for a very long time.

A character falls into lava in "The Island of Lost Dakotas". They do die temporarily, but someone goes back in time to stop them from dying.
All of this is in a flashback and is on-screen for about 5 seconds. It's easily skipped.

Cavendish’s entire body is crushed by a falling AC unit, and he dies. In another death scene, his head explodes from being in outer space. Neither of these scenes are graphic (no blood/gore), but they are blunt and straightforward.

In "Lady Krillers," the whole plot centers around a man dressing up as a woman. Tobias "Tobina" disguise is not portrayed as predatory necessarily, since he only dressed as a woman to get a movie role, but this is used for jokes.

Many characters end up in the hospital, but there is nothing particularly squeamish. I know for certain that there are hospital scenes in "Rooting for the Enemy", "Worked Day", "Dog Walker, Runner, Screamer", and "The Speech and Debate ... Explosion Event". However, I definitely missed some.

No direct instances outside of the usual uses of words like “insane”, “crazy”, etc. However, there are several instances of behavior from characters that can be uncomfortably close to real-world ableism. Murphy’s Law is frequently framed as essentially a disability, and Milo occasionally faces prejudice because of it (this is far outnumbered by characters being understanding and accommodating about it). Sara Murphy’s love of an in-universe TV show strongly resembles a special interest or hyperfixation, and a rude remark is made about this towards her at least once.

Not canonically, although it is worth noting that many viewers see Dakota and Cavendish's relationship as romantic, and The Island of Lost Dakotas shows Cavendish dying over and over again (although little to no gore is shown).

At least once instance of what I can best describe as “fake out” blood - A visual gag appears to show the protagonists falling to their doom, with red liquid splattering around the scene. Shortly after it’s revealed that the characters are fine and what the audience saw was water balloons filled with red paint bursting open.
