TV Show • 2014 • Animation
ReportShōyō Hinata was inspired to play volleyball after seeing Kurasuno High School's "little giant" competing in the national tournament on TV. He trains relentlessly to make up for his lack of height, but suffers a crushing defeat in his first and last tournament of middle school at the hands of his rival Tobio Kageyama. Vowing revenge against Kageyama and hoping to follow in the little giant's footsteps, Hinata joins Kurasuno High School's volleyball team. To his initial dismay, Kageyama is also on Kurasuno's team. The former rivals soon overcome their differences though and combine their strengths to form a legendary combo using Hinata's mobility and Kageyama's precision ball-handling. Together with their team, they compete in prefecture tournaments and promise to meet Kurasuno's fated rival school at nationals.

Since they are doing a sport that requires being physical, shortness of breath is common

Hey there, emetophobe here! I’m still working on it, including hearing the words, but for the sake of anyone reading this I’ll censor words and be as minimalistic as possible. - Hinata has anxiety and as a result of this he often gets stomach aches, occasionally getting sick (they say v* and p* and another nicknames) from probably too much of it and not enough of him calming himself down (this isn’t a common thing to happen to people, don’t worry). Toward the end of episode 3 he gets sick. He also gets sick toward the very end of episode 5 (both in the last minutes of the episode, and there is a clear sign it’s gonna happen). / EDIT: Another instance is the beginning of Episode 12 in S2, it doesn’t happen but for the whole time before the OP almost all of Karasuno is talking about Hinata getting sick multiple times (the first instance is Hinata saying that he already got sick on the way there) and Asahi mentions that them talking about it makes him feel kinda sick too (but I don’t think it happens).

Hinata consistently has anxiety before his matches.
Yachi is a very anxious character and she has dramatized thoughts about what may happen to her in different situations

Nothing explicit, obviously, but your typical “teenage boys being boys” trope in anime. / Apparently toward the end of Ep. 11 someone on another team calls someone a ‘ch*ode’ which isn’t a common explicit word but has an inappropriate slang meaning.

Crying is shown in a fairly healthy way. Many of the main characters are shown to be crying in different situations and are never ridiculed
