Third of three film adaptations of the book series by R. L. Stine. In 1666, a colonial town is gripped by a hysterical witch-hunt that has deadly consequences for centuries to come, and it's up to teenagers in 1994 to try and finally put an end to their town's curse, before it's too late.
This movie contains 55 potentially triggering events.
- In 1666 Sarah Fier & Hanna Miller are gaslit by the town
- In 1994 Part 2 Deena Johnson, Josh Johnson, Martin, Ziggy Berman & pretty much all of Shadyside are gaslit by Sheriff Goode
The mother pig eats her piglets and is then killed. In the next scene an animal (I think it's the dog??) is pulled up from the well. There is also a severed goat's head shown.
again, as said under the “does the dog die” category, the dog goes missing and is later found in the well. you see the dog being pulled out the well. farm animals also die graphically.
There are flies shown flying around Hannah’s father and on some rotten fruit inside the house. // Sarah finds cockroaches in the porridge and mealworms in the flour, among flies flying around other rotting foods. // There are hundreds of flies shown buzzing around a giant heart thing.
[Spoilers//tw hanging]
When sarah is charged of being a witch she is hung. This scene last for around 20-30 seconds but the film flashbacks to this alot as it's a main plot point. At the start of the film when sarah tells solomen about her and hanahs relationship she says that shes struggling to breathe, and there are scenes where a character is hurt and are struggling to breathe.
We see Sarah’s hanging that was mentioned in the previous films. It’s both graphic and emotionally upsetting, but it’s also very important to the story.
- Hannah Miller gets tortured in 1666 after she is falsely accused of witchcraft, she survives but is traumatised;
- Sarah Fier gets tortured in 1666 after she is falsely accused of witchcraft. She loses her hand & later her life;
- The torture Ziggy Berman went through at 1978's Camp Nightwing at the hands of the Sunnyvale bullies, a posessed Thomas Slater & the post-mortem serial killers is shown in flashbacks when Deena reveals to her Sheriff Goode's the bad guy & when she confronts him;
- Deena Jonhson gets tortured, stabbed & almost murdered by Sheriff Goode in 1994
In 1994 Part 2, Martin gets a flashback from his time in jail in 1994 Part 1 when he comes across Sheriff Goode's graffiti cans. The flashback shown indicates Martin was framed & jailed for vandalism he never comitted & that Sheriff Goode got away with it until that moment
The underground chase between Sarah and Solomon in the caves is claustrophobic and intense. When Sarah is escaping the tunnels she is breathing my heavily and panicking, this is also intense and the camera is very close to her.
(SPOILERS) When Deena starts chasing Goode through the door in the mall, an emergency alarm goes off with loud beeping and bright flashing lights. The flashing lights last approx. 2-3 minutes and ends when Deena goes through the floor grate into the cave.
It does for Sarah in life, but there's much more to the movie after, and not only does it end happily, Sarah posthumously gets vindicated and avenged and seems to spiritually be present to witness it.
