American Humane has not certified this movie, but they do comment on how the Lillie's scenes an how the dog was treated during the making of this movie.
"Sparky" falls out of her wheelchair and "Uncle Joe" goes to help but since she hasn't asked for help Irons stops Joe and Sparky manages to get back into her chair on her own. This is a major character building moment for Sparky and it helps also lift her out of her depression. Though her friends are standing by in case she asks, but this is a very empowering moment for Sparky.
Irons picks up "Sparky" and carries her out of the hospital as she is protesting "stop", and it is portrayed as if it's no big deal. That he is just doing what is best for her, and she doesn't have the agency to know what's best for herself.
