Shiva Baby
Movie • 2020
ReportA near college graduate, Danielle, gets paid by her sugar daddy and rushes to meet her neurotic parents at a family shiva. Upon arrival, she is accosted by various estranged relatives about her appearance and lack of post-grad plans, while her confident ex-girlfriend, Maya, is applauded by everyone for getting into law school. Danielle's day takes an unexpected turn when her sugar daddy, Max, arrives at the shiva with his accomplished wife, Kim, and crying baby. As the day unfolds, Danielle struggles to keep up different versions of herself, fend off pressures from her family and confront her insecurities without completely losing it.

A lot of lying all throughout the film, when anyone picks up on inconsistencies, it's responded to with more lies. Many different characters get lied to and gaslit.

The protagonist drinks a lot of wine during the shiva after she becomes stressed, but we don’t have any indication she does this normally.

An ex of the main character outs her to a man she's involved with to try to spook the guy away in order to get back together with her. At the end it's suggested the 2 women do end up together.

Not explicit, but many characters talk about the main character's weight and speculate that she's anorexic. We then see her put food back on the table from her plate. Later on, she appears to be stress-eating.

There aren't fat jokes, but there are some "too skinny" jokes. There's also a LOT of weight loss/disordered eating/you should eat kind of content.
