the movie contains no snakes, but there are giant sandworms that are snake-like (besides the head)

Some drugs are dispensed by Dr. Yueh to Paul and Duke Leto. Also spice, the substance being harvested on Dune, can act as a psychoactive drug, and it's briefly shown being used by the native residents of Dune. A concentration of spice suspended in the air affects Paul in one scene, inspiring visions and dissociation. Several characters have unnaturally blue eyes, implying that they use spice regularly.

Addiction to the spice is implied, but not explicitly depicted.

Towards the end of the scene with the Gom Jabbar, where Paul's hand is in the box while he's being tested, there is imagery of a severely burnt hand crumbling. If this would be triggering, you can stop looking until they call Paul's mother back into the room.

No, but lots of fire and a pile of burned bodies is flashed up on screen quite frequently. Bit jarring but clearly no one alive :)

A needle is positioned directly in front of a character's eye in one scene, but no contact is made.

Blade fighting is prominent. There are several throat cutting finishing moves which are focused on but not very close up -- and further blurred by holographic sci fi gadgetry that is the "personal shield."

Yes, but no visuals except a character holding up a fake tooth that has yet to be inserted. (SPOILERY DETAILS: Out of nowhere, an incapacitated character is approached by a doctor and told that he will immediately have a tooth extracted and replaced with a fake which contains poison gas. The doctor holds up the fake tooth, and then the scene ends. Several scenes later, the character bites down hard to spring the trap, and the sound effect is, I would say moderate. Not loud or gruesome, but very solid and very...toothy sounding.)

There’s a scene where Dr. Yueh inspects Paul, but it’s not in a hospital or anywhere similar.

A needle is held to a character's neck in one scene, and another is positioned directly in front of his eye in a later scene. In both cases no contact is made.

There's no body dysmorphia, but there is a "friendly" body shaming exchange between Duncan Idaho and Paul about Paul's lack of muscle.

Only tangentially. Jessica is a member of an order that manipulates people from the shadows. This frustrates both her partner and their son to not be told the whole truth and not always know when they're being manipulated. I did not notice any overt/textbook gaslighting where she responds to a character's concerns by causing them to feel that their mind is unreliable.

Don’t know if this counts but there is forced paralysis on a few characters who are awake and aware but can’t move, so they’re trapped in their bodies.

No but one scene with uncomfortable nakedness and another scene with a threat of r*pe. (See entry for sexual assault for more details.)

At least two Black characters have prominent death scenes. The second could arguably be considered "dying first," but the context is very much not aligned with the general spirit of the trope.

The main bad guy is very overweight and is shown eating a large meal in a scene that has a similar tone to Denethor's meal in Return of the King. It's not really a fat joke. More like disturbingly heavy handed coding of "fat = immoral."

There's a scene where Paul and (his mother) Jessica are sheltering in a tent. Paul has a vision of the future that distresses him. Jessica reaches out to comfort him, but Paul SCREAMS at her to get away from him, leaving her shocked and almost cowering.

There are recurring shots of a knife covered in blood and dripping, and of a hand covered in blood and dripping. Early in the movie there is a shot of dead bodies with faint traces of stale blood around them. Overall there is no real gore scene, and whenever a sword kills someone the camera moves away.

Technically. There are many people who are swallowed in the sand due to the Sandworms.

the movie contains swords, knives, and similar close-range weapons. there is one scene where the protagonist can be seen reaching for a pistol, but it is not used.
