Unlikely hero Mickey Barnes finds himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.
Kinda of? There's a part where the big bad humiliates the main woman character by making her shut up by having to save another character by holding a rope in her mouth. While it is supposed to be humiliating for her, it is very much portrayed as a bad thing and the woman saves herself AND the other character in an extremely badass way.
There is a planet full of creatures (they kind of look like cockroaches, but they vary in size from a cat to an elephant.) One of the baby creatures is brutally shot by a firing squad. It’s graphic, but very CGI. Another baby survives, but is physically tortured by being trapped in a bag, having its tail cut off, and being put on a hook and hung over a lava pit. It’s very animated and the creatures are weird looking, but they make very cute noises and it is sad to watch. Death happens shortly after Mark Ruffalo unveils the large rock. Torture happens after Mickey is moved into the “situation room.”
the main creatures of the film have one death and one injured, both are babies. they make a lot of distressing animal like sounds that may be hard to listen to.
Another baby Creeper has its tail cut off and it's in pain. Then it's put on a hook and dangled over a lava pit. It is ultimately rescued and reunited with it's mama.
There is the threat of cutting off more Creeper tails but that doesn't happen.
There's a big scary fight but no more Creepers in pain.
While the creatures are bug like, they themselves aren’t bugs. They look similar to roly-poly’s/pill bugs meets a tardigrade, but much bigger. The bigger they are, the more woolly they are. If it helps to know, I have a VERY bad insect phobia and they didn’t trigger it.
there is a scene of a dubious nature where one character is not enthusiastic at all about what is going on. I had to walk out of the movie so I don’t know if it was ever rectified but be careful!
A character is mentioned to 'slit their wrists' after being admitted due to alleged psychosis. Later on, blood trickles down their wrist in reference to this, but no wounds are shown.
a character is seen spitting out the ear of another character following a fight. you don’t see the actual bite and he doesn’t swallow but this feels the best category
you don’t see it happening but a character gets his leg cut off below the knee in torture with a chainsaw at the restaurant; the ankle is held up and they remove the shoe.
Yes, an alien baby is killed in a very distressing scene. It is played off quickly with the main focus being on a live baby who survives in order to lessen the distress for the audience and there are consequences for the murder.
The main character dies consistently in the first act of the film, but is brought back each time. Two minor characters (one unnamed towards the beginning and one about a quarter into the film) die as well as two main characters and an implied third at the end.
near the end of the film the protagonist mentions a rumor about the wife of the antagonist slitting her wrists in a psychiatric facility, but nothing is shown.
Lots of uncomfortable high definition audio (animal squealing while the animal is being tortured, vomiting noises, etc) (although the theatre I watched it in had the volume up very high)
*Spoilers* Once Mickey gets asked to go to the dinner with Mark Ruffalos character and they all start to sing stop looking. There is a very graphic visual and audio scene where Mickey is sick from the food he has just eaten.
1.Mickey is threaten to commit suicide at the beginning of the film (seen) 2.near end of film, a character blows themself up (seen) 3. Character slits their wrists (told of, but not seen)
near the end it says a character “slits her wrists” whilst hospitalized and later she appears in a dream sequence with blood running down her palms, alluding to that, but not shown
No but the main character is never given enough food. In one scene he bolts a steak and then vomits it up because it is poisonous, likely to be triggering for some.
It's described off screen that one of the main villains has a psychotic break after the events of the movie, and is hospitalised, but it's mainly off screen
Several scenes with some quick camera flashes, also brief muzzle fire, explosions, various small electronic lights flashing, as well as glitchy video screen interference
NO, but a brief moment looked like it, because the character looks either into or right next to the camera (hard to tell), but the person is only looking at something in the movie, and the shot doesn't linger. I'm answering yes because the moment might be triggering to some.
partial nudity because of the cloning/experimenting process but mainly only male bare torso and once his ass, no genitalia. some partial female nudity during sex scenes - again, no genitalia - but there are some jokingly crude stick figure drawings/animations with a drawn p***s nothing graphic
Very strange example, but Mickey 18, a clone of 17, is enthusiastic about having a threesome with 17, who touches his head seductively. I guess it’s a personal question if having sex with a version of yourself constitutes incest. This is the strangest thing I’ve ever written, but I legitimately don’t know if that will be triggering to people or not, so I’ll put it out there
when mark ruffalo’s character comes into the mess hall, mickey and nasha sneak away to have sex. no frontal nudity, maybe a little cleavage. crude stick figure sex animations are shown a couple times. nasha and mickey are seen fooling around but at most it’s her hand in his boxers, nothing taken out
A male character is ridiculed for being in pain, being soft/sensitive, etc. Another male is yelled at for crying, but this action seems more intentionally manipulative.
They induce terminal illness in the main character several times, and he does die but he's fine after. There's a scene of his partner holding him and crying as he passes away from illness
off screen and referenced in a flashback in one instance, mentioned a couple times; crash test dummy footage with closeup shots of robert patterson as the driver but no actual crash occurs
the protagonist's clone attempts to assassinate the leader/antagonist, but is unsuccessful, the bullet only grazing his cheek. a baby alien is shot to death by a firing squad and reduced to a splattered pile of guts.
