Constant misgendering of the trans client. Obviously even the title refers to the trans woman as a "boy"

"The dirty joke" the titular joke is about a 4 time amputee and is in fairly bad taste.

Ally Mcbeal often, at least 1 per epsode will day-dream something fantastical. Being completely frozen or in later seasons, a dancing baby. It's not until later seasons where the question of derealization / disconnection to reality come up. Mostly its just one-off jokes.
It can border on hallucination occasionally.

There are funerals and mentions of death off screen. Flashbacks to the person being alive, I have not seen a person die on-screen yet.

Casual prison rape joke 11 minutes in. Told to a trans/GNC person who would be going to male prison. Ally quickly realized it was in bad taste, but blames it on Freudian slips and the scene moves on.

The whole show is predicated on gender politics and sexual / romantic relationships, the lack of them and the search for them. Not often actual sex scenes or anything explicit, but occasional ogling of an attractive person, occasional mentions of SH.

Ally is often day dreaming with extremes and CGI special effects as one-off non sequitur often. Almost once per episode at minimum.
one example, people litterally putting their foots in their mouths as if they were stretchy and unrealistic.

Season 2 episode 5 John Cage’s show frog gets flushed down a toilet. The frog re-emerges in S2E6 and gets flung against a door and is on life support. He comes out of it S2E7 only to be flung again, revived and later due to a misunderstanding at a restaurant is cooked and served. It was all completely unnecessary and totally gratuitous.
