While not shown on screen, Shiro's year long imprisonment under the Galra was heavily implied to have included torture.

Never on screen and not graphic, but implied, as a character has a prosthetic/robot arm and once states "You took my hand."

In S2 E5, Hunk over-bakes some cookies that turn out super hard and when he bites down it shows an x-ray of his head and his teeth cracking.

The father of one of the main characters is dead before the series begins. It is never shown how he dies, but in Season 7, ep 1 the character briefly mentions to another character how his father died (nothing too specific) in a flashback. There is another character, Allura, who loses her father to war. It is shown in a flashback how he was killed, but it is extremely short and the way the view is set up is at a distance. There is no blood, but there is brief fighting (they show the final blow). There is a sort of hologram of Allura’s father in the show, but because of certain events he has to be destroyed, or “killed,” by Allura. Her mother is dead before the show starts as well, but the show does not mention her much at all. This is in the beginning season of the show. Another character who is looking for their father and is uncertain if he is truly alive, but they cling on to the hope that he is. [[SPOILERS]] the father is found in later seasons, however, and remains alive.

Earlier in the show we first see evil Shiro. At the end of season 6, Shiro turns evil, it's not technically a possession this timd since it's a clone, but it still feels like it since the characters think it's him

One of the character's uneasy stomach is a running joke, and he throws up multiple times in the first episode.

Hunk gets sick fairly often, and gags arguably more. As of the latest seasons it doesn't happen nearly as much.

The season 7 finale features most of the main characters hospitalized while being visited by friends, family, and loved ones. However, there are no severe injuries depicted and the scene is treated as a happy one.

In Season 8, Episode 7, the story is told through the perspective of one of the MFE Pilots through his personal film equipment. Often times the camera is shifted from humans to animals as they go through an attack aboard the Atlas in their journey through space. This takes place through the entire episode.

In season 7 the ex-fiance of the main character is murdered on screen after only being introduced episodes before in one scene. It happens in season 7 episode 8, between the minutes 3:20-4:50. This can be extremely triggering and follows the Bury Your Gays Trope.

Some main characters have happy endings, some do not. Overall, it is not a happy ending as some characters have bad endings.

Throughout the show, multiple characters use blasters and guns. Two main characters start with their bayards being in the form of something gun-like.
