Unfortunately, this happens at the start of the main romantic plot. After Jerry conning Lise into a dance, and she telling him in no uncertain terms to leave her alone, he calls her at her work (she again tells him she's not interested), shows up at her work, and badgers her into a date. Because the movie is from 1951, he's vindicated in his behavior--she forgives him and agrees to a date, and the romance proceeds from there like normal.

Lise is dating two men without telling either of them about the other, in a situation where it is very clear that both of the men want to be exclusive with her.
