A character slits their wrists offscreen; you only see the aftermath with paint-like blood on their body.
A character stabs another with a pair of scissors, but you don’t see the actual penetration. You just see the scissors sticking out of their chest afterward.
Another character is attacked with a knife, but again, you don’t see any penetration (just paint-like blood).
No one cuts themselves shaving in this film.

The character remains intact upon impact. No bodily explosion, nothing gross. The fall itself is shown from a distance, and it was made in the early 70s so the idea of what was happening was scarier than the actual fall itself.

I wouldn’t say excessive. I think if you can handle the shower scene in Psycho, you can watch this movie. It’s a thriller movie with only a few scenes of violence, which I liken to the Psycho shower scene, but in color with blood that looks more like paint.

When someone is stabbed, it sounds like someone punching a canvas bag filled with beans. Very “of the era” audio gore. You don’t hear breaking bones or blood gurgling or anything like that.

It’s not intense due to the time period in which it was filmed. It’s more suggested if anything. There is a montage of two people coming together (no pun intended) and one of the short scenes features the characters naked by a waterfall. You only see a little bit of boob and some side-butt, but it could be uncomfortable if you’re a young person watching with your parents.

I guess it depends on whether or not you like the character! Someone does die at the end, but it’s not graphic in the least, and it’s not the main character. I wouldn’t say any death is a happy ending, but it’s all up to your individual perspective. If you want to know if you’ll be emotionally upset by the ending (Old Yeller, ET, etc) then, no.
