not that I remember, not dramatically or heavy to the plot I guess but if you like animals just a btw walter sparrow is an animal control worker and at the beginning he tries to get a violent dog under control

throughout the movie the main character realizes that he is eerily similar to the character in a book. the movie portrays this by showing us the book’s story in a different color tone, acted by jim carrey too (and the other actors have two roles, for example virginia madsen plays both his wife and the book character’s romantic partner.)
the book character & his love interest have a consensual violence aspect to their sexual relationship. however, ultimately, he kills her. in real life, the main character fanatsizes/dreams about killing his wife. he is distressed about it, but also sees himself as the character in the book and doesn’t seem to know whether he will act on it or not.
also, there is an IRL side character who was murdered at 23 years old and her body was buried in secret by her killer & never found. her killer was her partner.
there IS domestic violence in this movie. it’s not like the book parts don’t count, lol. they show it onscreen, it’s not just discussed by the IRL characters. it could be argued that the main plot is whether jim carrey will kill his wife or not, like the book character did.

I do not know if any characters ever said this,but a theme you’ll see is suicide in the movie. I would say it’s not shoved in your face,but there are scenes where it shows characters committing suicide. So yeah,beware if that is triggering to you.
