Is a woman brutalized for spectacle?

The only scene that I think could potentially be seen that way happens in season 4 episode 5. A woman is punched in the nose and she is seen with bruises around her eyes for the rest of the episode. I didn’t get the impression that this was excessive or anything though, it makes sense in the context of the series.

By characters in the show, yes, but the show is also clearly not depicting this to be a good thing and criticizes characters who sexualize teenagers

In episode 1, a character dies from a heart attack that seems to be induced by a drug overdose. However, it doesn’t seem like the overdose was intentional. In season 3, a man tells a woman he’ll kill himself, and he jumps off a boat. He sustains an injury and dies, but it seems that he jumped to scare her, not because he actually wanted to die. There are multiple references to suicide in season 4 episode 2, including an (unsuccessful) attempt, and a character describing how his father committed suicide (it’s implied he witnessed it). In season 4, a character jumps offs building from several floors up. He survives but is severely injured. It appears that a combination of being high and trying to run from the police motivated him to do this rather than suicidal ideation.

A character struggles with suicidal thoughts. He behaves recklessly and has visible tracks on his arm from drug use. In one episode, he hallucinates and sees his father, who committed suicide, and has a bloody gash on his neck.

Much of the series has to do with characters facing the trauma they endured by their parents, including a character being sexually abused by her father as a child.

A character who was sexually abused as a child goes on to use her power to take advantage of an assistant, she then downplays this when the assistant seems upset about this later

In 4x06, it’s revealed that a prostitute that one character slept with was underage (14-15), though he didn’t know it at the time. Not onscreen, but there are heavy references to adult characters being abused as children, including sexual abuse and incest.

4x06 - Two characters go to dinner. The first character is a recovering addict but has wine at the dinner. Both characters then go to a club and it seems like the first character is high. It’s mentioned in the same episode that the second character has drugged people by tampering with wine before, implying that he might have done the same to the first character and is why he encouraged him to drink at dinner.

Yes, but by another woman who isn’t her romantic partner (just specifying because the domestic hotline is listed so I’m not sure if this question is supposed to be limited to domestic abuse)

Season 4 episode 2, neck injury shown toward end of episode. Also toward the end you see a character going to do it but not the act. Disturbing imagery depending on your sensitivity to this.

Sweetpea has an Only Fans and several male characters make crass comments about it to her face. However, the series doesn’t glamorize this and shows a lot of empathy towards her
