The story follows a newly married young woman who, upon arriving at her husband’s imposing family estate on a bleak English coast, finds herself battling the shadow of his deceased first wife, the mysterious Rebecca, whose legacy continues to haunt the house.
This movie contains 11 potentially triggering events.
Spoilers - Maxim was emotionally abused by his late wife Rebecca, revealed at the end. Throughout the movie he is emotionally neglectful and manipulative towards the protagonist.
Though it isn’t shown on screen, two characters get married and it is implied that one is a virgin die to societies’ view on virginity and after they are married they are in bed together.
SPOILERS______________________Although they are not partners, there is gaslighting and emotional abuse between two people living in the same house. ______________MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD_______________________ you find out near the end that a man killed his wife. He did it because his wife cheated on him with many men and rubbed it in his face and was toxic towards him. However, the film portrays the man as a complete victim, even though he killed her, which I found unsettling and disturbing.
Not exactly, but there's a very uncomfortable moment when a man gets on the same horse as the woman he's teaching to horse ride, and makes ennuendos and touches her thigh.
At the end of the movie, a woman jumps off a ledge into the ocean and drowns herself. There is also a moment about 2/3 the way through the movie where a character considers jumping out a window to commit suicide, but doesn't.
Mrs Van Hopper catches flu. Disgusting, unnecessary and graphic scene (audio/visual both) that the screenwriters inexplicably took it upon themselves to make up as it is neither in the book or any other production of Rebecca. Scene begins 6:43 into film—skip ahead about two minutes to get to the next scene. You will miss nothing crucial in the plot.

Mrs Danvers, who some people interpret as having romantic feelings for Rebecca, dies at the end. However in the book it is made clear that Mrs Danvers raised Rebecca from childhood and loved her like a daughter.
Maxim looks through a pair of binoculars and sees a couple having sex on the deck of their yacht. Very short visual—less than five seconds and very far away.
It's happy for some people and sad for others. I found how the film decided who was 'innocent' and who wasn't disturbing myself. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD____________________ you find out a man killed his wife because she was a serial cheater. She was toxic to him but the film portrays him as a complete victim despite killing her. Near the end another perosn kills themself because of the murder. The final shot is the husband and new wife being happy.
There's a little bit of blood when someone accidentally cuts their finger. Other than that there's no blood, and you don't see much of the body they find.
It is mentioned that Rebecca was shot, and Maxim is threatening himself with a gun, but no shots are actually fired. I would still consider this violent because it can be triggering to some.
