As Ellie is riding away from the group of men her horse is shot from underneath her. It's particularly sad since she was just giving it water the scene before. :(
S1E8 - (Spoilers for the climax of this episode) Attempted rape of a minor is shown on screen. (TW: detailed description of attempted rape) The scene shows the rapist on top of his underage victim, pinning her down. They are both fully clothed. He says something along the lines of “the fighting is my favorite part” and he goes to remove his belt. She is visibly terrified when she realizes his intent but she manages to grab a weapon and kill him before he gets any further than that. Traumatized, she repeatedly stabs him after he has died.
SPOILERS: A teenage girl is assaulted by a religious cult leader after he makes uncomfortable advances towards her. he then pins her to the ground and it is HEAVILY implied (borderline explicit) that he intends to imprison and rape her repeatedly. In this episode there is a character who tries to take on a role of a father for numerous young girls, although it is in more of a sexual manner than in a father like manner. Joel has an injured hand throughout the episode, mostly shown as cuts and bruises to his knuckles. It is shown close up and talked about at 12:15, and is visible throughout the rest of the episode.

No the mother goes with them under falls pretends later both she and the infant get killed by the people that took them who promised them safety so I would say no but it's close to it if you think about it
Episode 3 - 45:55-50:18, dina disappears while they’re in the forest, you can’t see it coming but she quickly runs back and then v*. pretty bad audio. you see her crouched over but she’s partially covered by a cart so you can’t actually see it
Episode 4 - 26:40-27:00, when ellie and dina walk into the room with the dead people hanging. once again there's audio, but dina is partially covered so you don't see anything.
FEDRA —a government agency acting as martial law in what are essentially a bunch of police states— is not painted in a flattering light. The corruption is shown unflinchingly and it is not excused by the narrative. Although Joel has a neutral/transactional relationship with an officer that borders on friendly, that officer is not heroized at all and is shown to still be dangerous and untrustworthy in the end. So, no “good cop” trope happening here either.
A child is restrained by chains in S1/E01. A man and then later a group of people is kept in makeshift jail cells in S1/E05 by the current ruling faction. A child is kept in a makeshift cell by a cult leader in S1/E08.
No, but Frank schedules his first meeting with Joel and Tess without telling Bill. He’s upset about this but it’s probably not motivated by a fear of coming out.

Episode 8, when standing in front of the Victoria's Secret window, Riley makes a joke about trying to imagine Ellie in the skimpy underwear on the mannequin. This makes Ellie visually uncomfortable and she lingers at the window, presumably to imagine herself "sexy." Side note that Ellie is 14 years old, however it's something that every teenager does.
Joel begins to show signs of having anxiety attacks. It occurs twice throughout the episode and he talks about the symptoms he experiences after the second one.
episode one: from 26:00 until 30:00 there is almost non stop flashing lights, in particular from cars. at 1:16:30, there are flashes of thunder and lightning.
In keeping with the video game, when the outbreak first starts and they are trying to escape in a truck, the camera is shown from the perspective of the backseat looking out the front window of the truck and it seemed a bit shaky to me and triggered a bit of my motion sickness.
Bill is a conspiracy theorist and uses the term “new world order.” His conspiracy theories are called out, however, and he doesn’t say anything explicitly antisemitic. If anything, his conspiracy theories hinge around N*zis rather than Jews as he believes the US government was controlled by N*zis.
a male character is gently advised not to show fear, but it's for the sake of helping a young child feel at ease, not based on harmful gender stereotypes.
episode three: frank is shown to suffer from a degenerative neuromuscular disorder, such as MS or ALS. it is not specified, but he is shown to be in chronic pain and is wheelchair bound later in the episode.
When Sarah is at the old peoples house, the old woman has an episode in the background, framed as she is turning but none of the characters notice. If you have sensitivities towards strokes, just be aware of this as it was upsetting.
Not directly on screen, but if you're watching with a child who still believes in Santa, and they're smart enough to ask "how does Santa's find everyone?" Please just tell them the truth, they can take it.
