A named fish (a koi living in a garden pond) that was extremely dear to its owner. It dies off-screen, but the owner finds its corpse and is deeply saddened. A little later he buries it and says goodbye out loud.

HORRIBLY so, throughout the entire series. I don't have a particular problem with seeing gaslighting in fiction, but in this series, man... It was pretty painful to watch.

While Adam the fish dies off screen you do see him dead in the pond. Marty picks him out and cradles and strokes him and you see him again when Marty buries him. It’s very sad.

Phyllis leaves her husband of many years because he's been cheating. We don't follow their story as such, and we don't see the cheating happen, but we do get a flashback of her leaving him for good in which she screams "You shouldn't have f***ed your secretary!!!" (I believe that's the only time we ever see her husband at all.)
