Someone is thrown in a pit and left there in isolation for a year. Several people are ordered to commit seppuku (ritual suicide by disembowelment), which is painful and can take a long time, BUT it's the death they were asking for instead of execution, and they do after all physically do it to themselves, so I don't know if it counts as someone being tortured.

Actually very little, considering what gory things happen in the movie. I mean, there's disembowelment and decapitation and more, but we don't actually see any of it. We don't even see the cuts when a group of people cut their thumbs to make bloody fingerprints. The movie could've been extremely graphic, but wasn't. We do see two severed heads, but no blood comes out of them.

Yes, sort of a joke, but it's lovingly said by a friend of the overweight person ("I knew it was you; I could see your belly sticking out behind the tree"), who himself seems to genuinely find it funny. It's actually a rather sweet scene of confession and forgiveness. But apart from that, the movie uses the one conspicuously overweight person as the only comic relief, which isn't cool.

A bamboo forest is haunted by the ghosts of people who have been left there to die (babies, disabled, elderly). The ghosts take the form of not entirely shapeless whooshing wisps of silvery fog. I believe they make sort of a whispering sound. It's daylight (slightly dimmed by the bamboo) when we see them. I'm terribly afraid of ghosts, but these ones didn't bother me in the least.

Perhaps. A guard is pulled over the top of a wall by someone climbing its outside, so it's most likely that they kill him simply by letting him fall to the ground, but we see it happen from the inside, i.e. we only see him disappear over the edge, and he doesn't make a sound, so he could conceivably have been stabbed/cut to death instantaneously before falling (the outside of the wall is a slanting natural rock wall, so I believe it would have been possible for them to hold on to him a bit while maintaining their footing).
