Idk if they're kids bc so many anime characters are young looking but there's several scenes of characters being punched but not prolonged. The main characters come across a camp where corporeal punishment with a cane is a common practice.

There's also a flashback where a child watches a wasp eating a caterpillar. It is discussed for symbolic plot reasons. There are close up shots of the bugs. Small prey animals are killed for food with knives. There are close up shots of stabbing and intestines coming out of the wound. There's also a crocodile attack, no biting, just cornered by them and then another character dispatches them. Later a bird similar to a duck has its head ripped clean off. A woman drinks the blood.
