Idk if they're kids bc so many anime characters are young looking but there's several scenes of characters being punched but not prolonged. The main characters come across a camp where corporeal punishment with a cane is a common practice.

There's also a crocodile attack, no biting, just cornered by them and then another character dispatches them. Later a bird similar to a duck has its head ripped clean off. A woman drinks the blood.

There's also a flashback where a child watches a wasp eating a caterpillar. It is discussed for symbolic plot reasons. There are close up shots of the bugs. There's a scene where one of the characters has had bugs go inside his body, influence his body and eventually burst out of his face, his soon dies. Later one of the characters screams about being covered in ants but there's less than a dozen and no close ups
