The character Sam, does say an ignorant but not ill-intended thing to Tyler regarding Tyler being a trans man (something along the lines that he didn't know a woman could transform into a man that well). Later, Sam sort of makes up for it by gifting Tyler a pocket knife, declaring every man needs a good knife, hereby affirming Tyler's gender identity.
