A side character is afraid that the person they work for will punish them or the main characters further if the person they work for finds out the side character is trying to help the main characters, so for a while they maintain distance. It is not malicious.

The main villain does use manipulative tactics on a side character and the three main characters, though.

The main character's mother died, off-screen and before the series began. By the end of season one, there is no mention of how exactly she died. However, dealing with the death of her mother is a central theme of the show.

the main antagonist magically transports the 3 main ghosts to his cult headquarters (genuinely am not sure what to call it), and appears to have some kind of magic in place to keep them from leaving.
also off screen a side character drives a bus full of people 300 miles into the desert. I think legally this is also kidnapping.

Part of the basic plot of the show is 3 ghosts helping a girl with her music. They appear like normal teenagers however at some points she does pass through them

in the last couple of episodes, out of nowhere, the ghosts get hit by some sort of stamps from a curse that was put on them, it happens out of nowhere and scared me everytime it happened, so be prepared. the curse is put on them in episode 5 and i think it either starts in that episode or the next. it gets louder and looks more painful as it goes along.

Major spoiler for episode 9: Caleb Covington, the main antagonist, possesses Nick, a friend of Julie's. The possession is simply Caleb's body turning into purple smoke and flying into Nick's mouth.

In episode one, you see flashing ambulance lights. Throughout the series, lights are used as visual effects for musical performances. However, there are no major strobe lights used.

The only thing that resembles a fat joke is when Luke writes "Julie and the Phantoms" on a sign-up sheet, but his handwriting is so bad that it is misread as "Julie and the Fat Ones". An antagonist laughs at this.

Technically no because Julie is 16 and Luke is 17, but Luke died in 1995 (the show is set in 2020) and stopped aging. If you want to count that as aging even though he stays the same age physically as when he died, Luke would be 42. But again, the ghosts stopped aging after they died.

As the other comments said, Alex apparently cried for 25 years after the three guys died and they joke about that but it's light-hearted.
