A lone drifter suffering from partial memory loss accepts a job to look after a psychologically troubled woman in an abandoned house on an isolated island.
A man is trapped in a house where someone is hunting him for the latter half of the movie. It is not a typical depiction of stalking, but I could see this being potentially triggering.
A dog is tied up and neglected by its mentally ill owner, but the person staying with the woman feeds the dog, and eventually frees it from its chain. If you focus on the prior neglect, it's sad. But if you focus on the dog finally being fed and cared for, its not.
Wanted to flag a comment that is made pretty early in the movie. A man compares the sound of a fox to a teenage girl screaming, to which he asks another man 'you ever hear a teenage girl scream?' and he replies 'no', to which the first man scoffs and says 'sure' in a disbelieving manner. I believe this comment is supposed to be eluding to watching pornography featuring teen girls, which may potentially be triggering to some.
The main character seems to briefly become unconscious from pain after being shot in the leg (though it may just be a flashback). Also, Olga frequently enters catatonic states where she is conscious, but unresponsive.
A few jumpscares, but nothing too egregious. Film is very tense, so the few that show up can be startling. Notable ones:
- A loud, ominous noise around 0:21 when looking at a painting.
- Character finds a [spoiler] in a dark area with an accompanying loud noise around 0:32.
- Startling noise when a a flashlight reveals a figure in the dark around 0:59.
- Loud noises when looking around a dark room at 1:04. Has some leadup to the last (loudest) reveal, so not too bad a jump.
