After the intense sudden death of a major side character, main character Magdalene is being chased by a gunman until she falls down. It is revealed that the gunman is her lost son. He gives her instructions to stay quiet and hidden until his group leaves.
He promises to send her money later, and explains that he cannot leave the group. A flashback reveals that to be spared by the group, on the night the bus was hijacked, he had to murder his friend with a blunt machete.
