Honjou Kaede is invited by her friend Shiramine Risa to play a virtual reality MMO game with her. While Kaede doesn't dislike games, what she really, truly dislikes is being in pain. She creates a character named Maple, and decides to put all her points in VIT to minimize pain. As a result, she moves slowly, can't use magic, and even a rabbit can get the best of her. But as it turns out, she acquires a skill known as "Absolute Defense" as a result of her pumping points into VIT, as well as a "Counter Skill" that works against special moves. Now, with her ability to nullify all damage, she goes on adventures.

No real dogs are harmed, but cute dog/wolf-like creatures are killed in several virtual reality gaming portions. Also, Sally’s pet Oboro gets hurt in one battle, but is fine afterwards.
There's a few moments where a monster tries to eat Maple, with the biggest example being the time a demon "eats" her, only for her to eat it from the inside-out.
There’s a VERY SMALL creature that does resemble a spider (it has multiple legs and definitely has multiple visible eyes around its head) but honestly I didn’t think it was that bad and i have SEVERE ARACHNOPHOBIA. It was kinda cute actually, and it’s not on screen for very long! It was like….if squishmallow made like a colorful…plushy stubby spider. I looked away for a second but not too bad.
