The only thing I’d say was iffy was approving of locking their daughter up in a psychiatric facility. That should only be used in the most extreme of cases and whilst you could argue that possession is an extreme case, the mental health route is the wrong route to take. The parents clearly care about their daughter, though, so probably felt they were doing what was best for her. Many parents go down the exorcism route when the cause is mental illness. It’s a tough call to make and dependent on their beliefs. When we watch films like this, we suspend disbelief and buy into possessions being real, but in reality, most parents probably would assume mental illness is the cause unless they were devout believers. I wouldn’t say they were abusive for making the wrong call in this case.

From 27:30 to 32:00, there’s an uncomfortable scene where the main character’s love interest gets her drunk, waits until she’s pretty much passed out, carries her to her bedroom, gets on top of her, pins her down and kisses her and fondles her whilst she just about manages to slur out “no”. Eventually he gets too annoyed with her protests, gets off her, unbuttons her jeans, pulls her top up to expose her bra, and takes a photo that he sends to his two friends. The two friends then turn up at the address, let themselves in, see her passed out on the bed with her jeans pulled down and top lifted up and make comments about “wanting to play with her” before Matt (the love interest) tells them to wait their turn. They then take turns writing derogatory words on her abdomen as they take photos of her and with her before just leaving her passed out on the bed. I honestly thought they’d do more, given the effort they went to to get her in this position, but they cut it short and stopped there. Matt then sends at least some of these photos to people, including the main character’s supposed friend “Jess”, who victim blames her, accusing her of sending nudes to some guy she barely knows. The whole lot of them are obnoxious. After these timestamps, the incident is referred back to, but the photos aren’t shown, so you can avoid the worst of it if you skip that scene.

There are several throughout the film, but they’re not that bad. More like jump cuts to make something appear or time jump. No blaring loud sounds to accompany them or scary imagery involved. I can’t stand most jump scares, but these were tolerable.

It’s unclear how she died, but suicide was suggested. The ghost girls wanted the main character to “join them” and that in doing so, her pain would end and she’d “be free”.

The jump cuts are a bit flashy. No flashing lights, though.

I didn’t really notice any. Only the hand mark shaped burns and slit throat at the end.
