ReportSynopsis
Syd Burnett has left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna, a working mom with an equally complex past, Syd is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret. These two women don't agree on much, but they find common ground when it comes to taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles.

In the first episode a child is taken by druglords and threatened because his mother angered them. Throughout the series it shows flashbacks of one of the main characters mother. She was very physically abusive. Not a ton is shown as far as physical abuse, but there are several mentions of broken bones and black eyes. In the final episode of season one, two kids are kidnapped and held hostage.

Light jokes are made about her gender but the two cops are very understanding and eager to learn and be respectful about her pronouns. The other two are very knowledgeable and set them in their place. Very cute and wholesome in my opinion.
