TW: GRAPHIC. If you’re any amount of sensitive towards this, avoid this manga. It happens in volume one (if my memory is correct) and thus not really possible to ”skip” and still understand the story.
Below are description of the specific scene, if you want to determine the severity, be warned that it is VERY GRAPHIC.
The body of the dog is shown in a garbage bag outside, already having been mentioned as missing by the landlady. Not only does a dog die, it is cooked by the stalker. The manga is in black and white, but the ”soup” are clearly bowls with blood. A severed paw is discovered in the soup by the MCs sister, the stalker is shown to eat one of the eyeballs.
The stalker is dressed in Lolita fashion, which is a fashion style from Japan that’s a subculture inspired by European baroque, rococo and Victorian era. It is specifically defined by very girly and quite youthful clothing, accompanied with hairstyles and makeup that makes people look more youthful, manga/anime-looking or, which I would describe, doll-like, specifically like porcelain dolls.
Lolita fashion/subculture is NOT pedophilic in nature, HOWEVER it has become heavily fetishised by a large group, leading to blurred lines, and is often been linked to either the novel ”Lolita” that is pedophilic (that otherwise only shares the name with the subculture) and ”loli”/”lolicon”.
Lolicon (/loli) is DEFINITELY bordering on pedophilia, and quite a touchy subject. To quote wiki: ”In Japanese popular culture, lolicon (ロリコン, rorikon) is a genre of fictional media which focuses on young or young-looking girl characters, particularly in a sexually suggestive or erotic manner.”
The reason why I specifically define this is so that I can be specific about why I would say that this manga have some elements of pedophilia, though not graphically or definite.
The stalker is always dressed in Lolita fashion. As mentioned above, this is not pedophilic, and the stalker in fact is drawn in a way that implies her to be late adolescent or very young adult, though it is somewhat ambiguous. Further on in the manga, the stalker looks less human, and this along with her having proportions that looks not like a child, doesn’t give the impression that she is one. She DOES however often act and speak somewhat childlike.
Whilst the stalker isn’t really sexualised, there is some context necessary. One of the mc’s friends says some troubling things. Hearing about (but never seeing) the stalkers physical appearance, he expresses to be ”jealous” as he seems to have a fetish. If my memory is correct, this is also the same friend who borrowed out (unsolicited) loli-porn to the mc (who threw it in the trash without watching, seemingly bothered by it) and also implies that the mc should ”feel lucky that he has a hot younger sister”, which the mc seems disgusted by.
The stalker later implies that she thinks that the mc is aroused by loli bc she found the video tape in the trash, which is kinda gross
Imma be quite specific below, as from my understanding, it is in a way that most wouldn’t think about directly when thinking about this trigger.
The antagonist, a female stalker, graphically selfharms and it is shown in detail. Some of it is to an extent that doesn’t seem survivable, which heavily implies that the stalker is supernatural.
The stalker brutality injures and ultimately kills a friend (girl) of the mc’s sister, and shortly thereafter harms the sister and is implied that she dies as well
The stalker HEAVILY self harms, often in front of people. This can be seen as both being because of her being EXTREMELY mentally disturbed/unstable and very self destructive.
It ALSO often happens infront of other people, which can be seen as a means of manipulation.
NOTE: in NO way am I, with this comment, implying that people who self harm or have in the past harmed themselves, do so for attention or manipulation. As someone who myself have struggled with this, I want to be VERY CLEAR that this is not something that this comment implies, it is ONLY IN CONTEXT OF THE STORY. Take care of yourself and find the help you need if this is something you’re struggling with
Not fully nude. I will note though that at one point where the stalker is chasing the sister, a part of the sister’s shirt is ripped off and has one of her breasts exposed for the rest of the scene.
Later when the mc is forced to draw a picture of the stalker, he draws her nude for some reason.
Yes, two peoples heads are twisted 360° from being hit by a mallet and at one point the stalker digs her fingers deep into the mc’s throat whilst strangling him, penetrating the skin deeply
Yes and this would be very triggering, especially in context of self harm.
The stalker is seen having big stitches along her lower arms that she later rips up in a graphic scene to reveal deep gashes. In a flashback the stalker is shown deeply cutting her wrists, which is also extremely graphic and triggering. Realistically, the only way she could have survived these injuries is bc she’s not actually human.
The stalkers backstory implies that she was abused by her family and possibly neglected as a child. However it is unclear that this is true as later on in the story it is revealed that this backstory isn’t entirely true
The stalker is portrayed as having extreme ptsd from supposed severe abuse
SPOILER:
By the end it’s heavily implied that the backstory of the stalker is just stolen identity from a previous victim, that was heavily exaggerated by the stalker, and that the stalker is actually a supernatural creature, a type of demon
The stalker regularly tears her fingernails off from scratching, and smashes people’s hands with a big hammer/mallet. Mc’s hand/arm is injured to such a point he has it in a sling towards the end
The stalker stabs her own thigh(s) with a fork from emotional distress/anger, mentions of a doctor going insane and stabbing a bunch of patients at a hospital. Think the stalker stabbed a couple of people, but it’s hard to remember with all the f****d up stuff she did
In a way. The mc becomes increasingly unsure about the truth of the stalker (especially her background) and due to the prolonged stalking and later being imprisoned by the stalker, his grip on reality seems to falter
Kinda? The stalker appears to be homeless, as she’s firstly met by a bunch of garbage bags outside, where she’s also seen repeatedly. She’s always in the same clothes and doesn’t seem to have a home.
HOWEVER, the stalker turns out to not be human, rather most likely a type of demon, so I don’t think this trigger applies to her, but I guess it could be triggering to some people, in the first chapters
I think both the mc and his sister are in their mid teens, the sister is somewhat younger, so I would still count them as children, though more adolescents
The stalker’s backstory is that she was severely physically and mentally/emotionally abused by her older brother.
This would definitely be triggering for someone who may have that type/similar type of trauma. Specifics below
She is seen heavily bruised, refusing to change her clothes no matter how dirty she gets, in fear of angering her brother as he supposedly forced her to wear those clothes. She is shown to have bizarre traumarelated behaviour, such as eating spilled food from the floors, supposedly from how she was treated. Description of how she was fed by her brother are vile, won’t go into detail. She heavily selfharms and is in general extremely self destructive as a result of the abuse and is implied to be suicidal
Yes, fingers are disfigured by hand being hit by mallet, think the mc towards the end has his hand(s) injured in some way by the stalker, and the stalker is regularly seen having bleeding fingers, especially from torn off fingernails
Don’t know if this counts, but the stalker always has a very worn bunny-like stuffed toy with her, that smells really bad, that she later tears up the belly area of, to reveal that it was stuffed with human organs
Apart from the stalker being implied to have done everything she does to the mc, and his loved ones, many times before, like a repeating cycle, she also graphically kills the mc’s parents
I think the sister throws up the ”soup” that the stalker made and the stalkers backstory with the abuse of her brother mentioned that he would force her to eat garbage and if she threw up she would have to eat up her vomit
There’s scenes of the stalker having been in a hospital/mental hospital for a prolonged stay, and the mc and his friends later visit that hospital, now abandoned, for clues
Hard to say outright yes, the stalker does have vet strange and disturbing eating habits though, as she consume things that aren’t food and her supposed backstory is that she was forced to eat garbage etc
No, but one sidestory features another obsessive stalker that is stereotypical portrayed as a otaku, and drawn to look very unattractive. The character is drawn as an overweight person, as a part of her unattractive features, and this can be seen as mockingly
It’s hard to say ”no”, and I’ll explain why. There’s no ACTUAL incest going on/happening. The mc’s friend comment on that the mc should feel lucky to have a ”sexy little sister” which is gross and so does the mc seem to think as well.
The stalker wants to be the mc’s ”little sister” (she is actually in no way related to him and is a stranger) and some comments/things she says can give off an ”incestuos vibe”. It is not mutual/consensual from the mc
Not really, there’s some minor semi-nudity, the term ”whore” being used, reference to lolicon porn (in text, briefly, never shown) and an up-skirt scene where the sister is threatened to have her privates burned by an iron for urinating herself out of fear
Below are description of the specific scene, if you want to determine the severity, be warned that it is VERY GRAPHIC.
The body of the dog is shown in a garbage bag outside, already having been mentioned as missing by the landlady.
