The male deuteragonist and the woman protagonist are boyfriend and girlfriend by this point. They have a moment alone where he suddenly hugs her unexpectedly when says she wants to rely on only him. He is about to kiss her when a bolt of thunder interrupts. He runs away to 'cool his head', and is ashamed of himself for this action. A strange song plays over in the woman protagonist's head as she stands in the hallway, I think it must be some song that warns women about men taking advantage of them. It feels really strange, but that must be the sense of humour native to Japan. She is like 'oh my gosh why is this song playing in my head?!'
He comes back and is about to apologise when he trips and kicks a bucket on her head, diffusing the tension, and making them laugh loads.
After that she says that she wants him to rely on her, and they share a romantic kiss.
Also I researched if there was assault and yes there is. Unsure if in anime but definitely in manga. Reading the comments in this blog post, looks like there is more:
