One of the bosses is a human child, who you radiate, she turns into a "radiated human", and you have to kill her to progress. Her (I assume) parents are running from you, and the child just happened to get too close to you, as after a certain point in the story, you are permanently radiated. You've been reading her journal all this time so you also know exactly who she is.
