The character of Carfin is brought back to the boyar. The boyar has other slaves hold him down and uses a knife and then a large pair of shears to castrate Carfin. While the actual castration is not seen, his screams are terrible and we see (from a distance) the genitals on the ground next to him. There is blood. The whole sequence is incredibly disturbing.
