As the world around him crumbles into oblivion, a man realizes that he contains multitudes. A story told in reverse, starting with the end of Chuck Krantz's life, and moving back in time to show how he'd lived that life.
Chuck's parents and unborn sister die in a car crash, not shown. Then he is raised by his grandparents who also die- grandmother not shown, grandfather has a heart attack on screen.
While mostly absent, there are a couple:
1. Towards the end of Act Three, Marty is talking to a young girl skating, when suddenly, the lights go out (accompanied by a loud sound).
2. During Act One, the younger Chuck tries to open the door of the cupola of his grandparents' house (which he is instructed not to do), and after opening it, his grandfather Albie suddenly yells at him.
Studio logos at start include lightning flashes. “Act Three” features flickering lightbulbs, television screens and other electrical equipment flashing/malfunctioning.
