there is a fair bit of gore but i wouldn't consider it excessive... mostly just lots of blood. the worst scene is the murder of the teacher, that was quite gruesome, but other than that one scene the gore is relatively mild compared to other horror movies

Soft yes. There is a good character who is a police officer, which seems to be for story purposes because they need a way to get into a police station. At certain times, her being a cop is definitely portrayed positively, but at other times, she acts out of ignorance and creates danger for other characters. She's not condemned, but she's not as glorified as the cops in some other movies.
