A woman is abducted by a group of Brigands.
Details:
Very shortly into Part 1, page 37, a doctor is treating patients and comes across a man in shock who says "Brigands... they took my wife, good surgeon. Took her... left me tied to a tree. Just walked off laughing..." And the surgeon proceeds to try to treat him for shock and is worried he might become suicidal. Nothing more than this is said and we do not know the fate of the man's wife.

No one actually dies but a character attempts suicide and is suicidal for a lot of the book. It's quite bad. Another character constantly thinks about death being the only way out.

Regular fantasy violence plus some quite nasty descriptions of corpses.
