marvin
no one is actually sexually assaulted, but “rape” is used to describe marvin taking off miss goldberg’s glasses, which she has worn throughout the entirety of the musical and is apart of her character, without consent. during this song, the rape of miss goldberg, fourteen year old marvin has a rather strange fantasy of him saying he wants miss goldberg to “make him a happy boy” and mentions multiple sexual things. obviously, this is a fantasy and marvin is gay and trying to convince himself he is not (as it is the 40s-50s), miss goldberg is not raped.
