Gray the wolf's treatment by his owners is a little questionable - he's kept chained up as an adult until he breaks free, and how the family acquired him is never explained - whether they bought him from someone or took him out of the wild.
Not in the sporting sense, but Gray and Bo have a brief scuffle at the start which results in Bo's death. At the climax of the movie, Mr Schott's hound goes to attack Gray and the two start to fight - Russet tells Gray to stop before any real harm can be done.
