One thing is clear after viewing this film: director Pablo Larrain knows how to create environments behind the scenes that allow his lead actors to truly shine in their roles.
Like his previous film Jackie (2016), this film is both anchored and carried by the strength of its lead. Natalie Portman did some of her best work in Jackie. This time, Kristen Stewart gives a career-best performance, portraying the late Princess Diana. Even if you’re not convinced by a U.S. actor attempting a Welsh accent, you have to admire how well she captures Diana’s one-of-a-kind essence. This is really good work on display, very deserving of all the awards and nominations received.
How much you enjoy the film will probably depend on how well you take to films that use “artistic liberties” when bringing to life the stories of real historical figures. In this case, the film announces right at the beginning with a simple text:
“A Fable From A True Tragedy.”
Synopsis
During her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, Diana decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.

Up for debate but I would say yes simply because it’s a pretty sad movie overall and even though it ends on a more positive note, it didn’t feel very positive because we know the outcome of her life. I personally left very sad
