A donkey's jawbone is seen, but nothing happens to a horse.

A young lion is killed by Samson. The stuntman is obviously not Victor Mature but the dead lion is real.

Samson kills a lion. The corpse of the lion appears to be real.

The young lion killed by Samson is obviously a real freshly killed horrific lion corpse. Worse, it looks to be the same tame lion, not much more than a cub seen "battling" the stunt man before. That Cecil B. De Mill seems to have killed a friendly, tame lion for the sake of realsm is particularly grotesque in view of the silly, Hollywood glitter, rubber and glass idea of barbaric splendor in the whole movie. Really sickening. You can even see what appears to be a bullet hole.

The main character is blinded with a hot poker. The action is not directly shown and there is no damage visible when we next see him (the actor keeps his eyelids closed for the rest of the film).
