There is a dog in the film - the shopkeeper's dog Jake - who we first see being abused (see comments under 'Are animals abused?'), then again later. The later scene had me holding my breath 'cos the 2 murderous alien mutants approach Jake where he's chained to his kennel, especially when the female one tells Adas (the other one who's fondly patting Jake) to 'kill the dog's. Fortunately Adas refuses & moments later releases Jake's collar so he can run off & be free

Early in the film when Adas enters a shop to grab hot dogs & OJ's for his boss on his way to work the gruff shopkeeper goes out the back & is heard (but not seen thankfully) kicking & swearing at his poor dog Jake who whimpers & cries out. It's awful but rest assured that Jake lives through the film with no more harm

When the 2 alien mutants enter the home of the creepy shopkeeper for Adas to perform his first kill, they enter a room with entrails hanging from the roof above an animal's head (pig's head I think?) from which Adas retrieves a knife that had been left stuck.
